I joined Uber as a new father, so I think my experience is extremely relevant to your consideration.

It seems like somehow you got the impression that Uber is running like a slaveboat. It's not.

Many of my colleagues came from Google and they seem to think that the expectations are similar.

Sometimes you may be on-call, sometimes you may need to address urget emails off hours.

However, generally speaking, every night from 7-10 I am spending time with my son. Unless I am on-call or fell behind due to personal circumstances, I generally spend my evenings and weekends with my family.
