First of all - It’s not location that matters - It’s project

Even then giving you an insight :-

Ahmedabad - Average (Work on C#,.NET, Java)

Gandhinagar - Poor in terms of work culture. Good and cheap in terms of expenses and lifestyle (Java Development Projects/Support projects mostly. Bad work culture)

Pune - One of the best - (Good office infrastructure. Mostly good projects)

Bangalore - Land of opportunities with an equally frustrating ambience ( You can get out of TCS faster in this city than any other. )

Hyderabad - Good for south indians (Others may or may not like)

Kolkata - Poor - Projects as well as infrastructure

Delhi - Average

Trivandrum - Just ILP mostly. Best for ILP time according to my experience. But can’t stay longer in this location unless you belong to south :)

If you want a 'life', choose between Pune and Bangalore.

If you want professional growth, further studies etc., choose Hyderabad.

If you are interested in career shift, choose Mumbai.

If you want to save more, choose Kolkata.

Rest all are similar- Chennai or Gurgaon/Noida.

Out of all the above Bangalore and Pune are most balanced in all respect.

Nobody actually considers Ahmedabad, Indore, Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi unless closer to one's home.

TCS doesn't give any option to choose your ILP location. You can get any location randomly.

While joining, TCS gives you the option to select three locations out of which one can be your base location, post ILP training. If lucky, you will get one out of three for sure.

Let me tell you about some project locations.

  1. Bangalore - Good climate and lots of projects bt living expenses are high
  2. Mumbai - Good climate and highest number of projects bt living expenses are high
  3. Chennai - Lots of projects but the climatic condition is not good. Expenses are affordable.
  4. Pune - Good climate, fewer expenses, and nice projects
  5. Delhi - High cost of living and fewer projects
  6. Hyderabad - Nice projects, low expenses, and good climate

If you think in the terms of the project, I think Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore are the best options.

But you can choose your preferences and decide accordingly.

Hi, I would like to give my best possible inputs on the question. But before that you must understand what exactly you are looking for in terms of Best Work Place. Are you looking for Onsite Opportunities, Night Life, Economical living, Climate or anything else ?? As far as the Career growth is concerned, it is same all over India among all the TCS Branches. Let me explain City Wise :

Pune :

Pros - Good Climate, Economical living, Expanding TCS Presence in Hinjewadi ( More Projects to come )

Cons - Average Night Life and Onsite Possibilities

Mumbai :

Pros - Good presence in multiple locations ( Including Powai, Thane, Andheri East), Good Onsite opportunities, Awesome Night Life

Cons - Humid Climate ( Keep on Sweating !!! ), Expensive Living, Traffic, Pollution

Delhi :

Pros - None as of my opinion

Cons - Very Small Presence, Limited Projects, Expensive Living, Pollution, Safety ( If you get allocated in Noida instead of Delhi Office), Poor Onsite opportunities, Average Night Life

Bangalore :

Pros - Good Climate, Good TCS Presence in Multiple Locations, Good number of Projects, Onsite opportunities. Comparatively less expensive Living

Cons - None as of my opinion

Chennai :

Pros - Good TCS Presence in Multiple Locations, Good number of Projects, Onsite opportunities. Comparatively less expensive Living

Cons - Humid Climate, Traffic, Pollution, Below Average Night Life

Kolkata :

Pros - Very Cheap living

Cons - Bad Climate, No Night Life, Averaghe Projects

  1. If you want peace of life, good food and no language problem but all amenities that a metro city provides in India - Hyderabad
  2. If you want the best weather, all the glitz and glamour of nightlife (which you won’t be able to afford the first few years on TCS salary), while cursing the horrible traffic -Bangalore
  3. If you want good lifestyle, fairly good weather while losing out on shopping malls, movie places and public transport. - Pune (Specifically Hinjewadi area)
  4. If you like to spend your free time commuting from/to office and cursing the crowd and filth while sweating on the humid weather just to pay insane amounts of rent - Mumbai
  5. If you want to get the diseases you get by smoking without actually having to smoke and like your wallet/phone to be stolen frequently- Delhi
  6. If you like the sweaty weather of Mumbai but also would like to hate the food you have to eat - Chennai
