Beware of HackerRank’s SDE Intern Hiring Process: Is it Just a Marketing Strategy?
Every year, HackerRank hosts an SDE intern hiring process, where thousands of hopeful students attempt an online assessment with just two relatively easy coding questions. These questions are often solvable within 20–30 minutes, and many students successfully pass all test cases.
However, even after acing the test, countless candidates receive rejection emails. The reason behind this is disheartening: for HackerRank, the hiring process doubles as a tactic to attract more users to their platform.
Using the promise of job opportunities as a marketing strategy misleads and disappoints students who are genuinely seeking career-building internships. It’s time to bring awareness to this practice and advocate for transparency in hiring
