Education: BE in Electronics from Tier-2 college
YOE: 3 Years
Prior Experience: Worked 3 years in a small startup based out of Gurgaon
Date of offer: 3rd May, 2022
Designation: Amazon, L5 SDE 2 role
Base salary: 44 LPA
JB 1st year: 21 LPA
JB 2nd year: 17 LPA
Stock bonus: 25 units - Normal Amazon vesting schedule
Total compensation - 65 LPA + stocks in first year
Previous compensation: 13LPA

 

This was the CTC given without any competing offers. During offer discussion HR gave initial offer for 59 LPA(without stocks), but since my interview feedback was very good he raised it to 65 LPA when I asked if he could bump up the numbers(some back and forth discussion). This was pretty surprising to me as I was expecting a severe lowball because of my current compensation. From my experience, HR had more flexibility in increasing the Joining Bonus and stocks compared to Base.

 

Looking at recent compensation for Amazon SDE 2, it seems they are paying deserving CTC to candidates no matter how low is their current CTC.

 

Interview experience: Standard SDE 2 process. 1 phone screen + 1 system design + 2 dedicated coding round + 1 Hiring Manager(Coding involved) + 1 Bar raiser(Coding involved) . And a lot of LPs in all rounds except system design. Prepare a lot for LP questions and also be ready to answer any questions based on the scenarious you put forth. They drilled down deep into all the cases I mentioned for LP.
